 As we are writting this announcement, results of the first part of elections for the new IARU Region 1 head persons are known. Hans (PB2T) got 41 votes (out of 49) and has become a president. Vice president is Taffa (6W1KI), secretary Dennis (ZS4BS), and treasurer Andy (HB9JOE). EC members are Hani (OD5TE), Betty (F6IOC), Nikola (9A5W), Panayot (LZ1US) and Colin (G3PSM). Next general conference will be held in South Africa.

During special IARU ceremony November 18th in Cavtat, chairmen of IARU gave HRS acknowledgment for great organization of Cavtat event. Conference was successfully continued with C3 and C5 committee meetings, while yesterday, November 19th all committees held their meetings. The final working day is Thursday, November 20th.

 Official opening of the IARU Region 1 conference in Cavtat
The conference was officially announced opened by Mr. Kreso Antonovic, director of the electronic communications and postal service directorate of the Ministry of sea, transport and infrastructure. He welcomed the delegates, and said thathe hopes the conference will be productive and that will make the amater union stronger. On the ceremony of opening, there were Mr. Miljenko Krvisek, vice-president of Croatian agency for post and electronic communications, Mrs. Mira Buconic, County Mayor of Dubrovnik-Neretva county, Mr. Andrej Sardelic from Croatian Posts as well as president of Croatian Association of Technological Culture for Dubrovnik region Mr. Blazenko Dujakovic.

Everything is ready for the beginning of the IARU R1 conference in Cavtat. The most important amateur radio event in Croatia - General IARU Region 1 conference starts on November 16th with big opening at 10 am. Delegates of all amateur societies have started to arrive, and a total of 40 countries should be present. Conference is held every third year and its main goals are to foresee the future ways of ham radio, with accent to the needs of radio frequencies as well as technical standards. During next four days 130 delegates will check 120 documents, and the resulting documents will be the guidelines for the ham radio development in next three years.

 World ARDF championship will be held in Croatia (islands near Dubrovnik) from 14 to 19 September 2010. At task group meeting of IARU Region 1 in Bydgoszcz (Poland), 24 European countries decided that Croatia will host World ARDF Championship 2010.
